Quiz Yourself

Here is a quiz that parents and caregivers can fill in to explore how much resilience a young person shows. It is designed for use with young people who are ages 9-21.

The first group of questions (one through eleven) are focused on the young person's individual skills, talents, and ways of coping with problems. There are three subcategories: personal skills, peer supports, and social skills.

The second group of questions (twelve through eighteen) are focused on how young people interact with the persoin who most often provides care for them.

The third group of questions (nineteen through twenty-eight) are concerned with the context in which young people are living.

About Resilience

Building on our studies across many different countries of the social and physical ecologies (environments) that make resilience more likely, we define resilience as:

Resilience is the capacity of people to navigate to the resources they need to overcome challenges, and their capacity to negotiate for these resources so that they are provided in ways that are meaningful.
